Home Economics - Health & Safety



For the last two periods, we have been looking at...
  • How to stay safe, and be hygienic in the kitchen.
  • Food storage, correct knifes and boards.
Why is Health and Safety important in the kitchen?
Because there are lots of hazards that we need to be aware of to stay safe, and others will be eating the food we make, so we need to be clean and hygienic.

As a group, what routines have we put in place?
Wear an apron, wash hands, tie hair back, clean work areas, keep foods separate, etc.

What does bacteria need to grow?
  • Moisture
  • Warmth
  • Food
  • Oxygen
  • Time
